5 Mistakes That Are Killing Your Blog

1- Not Putting Out Content Consistently

This was extremely difficult for me as I’m currently employed, a mom, wife, business owner, etc. because I didn’t plan out my content at all.

I also didn’t time block my days & that just made it impossible & annoying to even blog.

The problem with that is that you lose traffic because there’s no strategy.

If you don’t put out really good, niche-specific, helpful content regularly, your SEO plummets along with your blog traffic.

So my advice is to you would be to start out by putting out a new article once a week and build it up as time goes.

You don’t want to fluctuate, so if you get to 2 articles a week, stick to that, don’t go back and forth.

Consistency is key to build trust with your readers & for good blog traffic.

2- Images Are Too Big

For number two I have to mention the size of the images within your blog articles.

Embarrassing as it is, I failed because I wasn’t aware I had to shrink the image before uploading it to my site with an image compressor.

I also was clueless about the fact that the image should be resized on my blog as well.

You do this by dragging the sides of the image to make it smaller.

So readers would visit my site/blog and I had these crazy gigantic images clogging my site.

Guess what that causes, besides it being obnoxiously large and annoying.

Ultimately, it slows down your site immensely.

As a result, readers bounce off of your site almost instantly because they’re annoyed with how slow it is.

I use an app called Canva Pro to create my Pinterest pins, blog graphics and so much more.

They have a FREE and paid version you can choose from.

I then use a FREE website called TinyJPG to shrink my images and it’s super easy to use.

Also, make sure to add as many images as possible to break up your article paragraphs.

Readers tend to stray when bored or they feel like they’re reading endlessly.

Yup, I made that mistake too!

3- No Subscriber Form

One of the best ways to obtain emails is with a subscriber form.

That’s how you monetize your blog the most, is with an email list.

I use the free version of MailerLite and I love it.

It’s also super easy to use and very customizable too.

You want to always stay consistent with your brand.

Everything from your blog/site to your social media & in between.

In other words, it should all be consistent with your brand.

Remember, you don’t own the social media platforms.

If they decide to pull the plug you lose all of your contacts.

An email list is essential to your blog thriving and gaining real profit.

With an email list, it’s yours, you own that so you never lose your contacts/clients.

4- You Don’t Have a Scroll Stopping Title

It’s very important to catch your reader’s attention immediately with your title.

Use powerful keywords that make them want to literally stop & click on your pin to read your article.

Here’s an article I wrote on keywords to help you out, check it out here.

When picking your title, be sure to add some keywords or at least one to help you out with SEO.

Remember, you should be writing helpful content to give readers what they’re looking for to solve a problem or need.

The more catchy your title is the more traffic you will have to your blog.

Also, don’t forget to subscribe to my monthly newsletter for a FREE Pinterest Keyword Keeper & more.

5- You Don’t Have Useful Content

If you don’t have content that the readers are looking for, then you won’t have readers.

You need to have amazing, helpful content in order to survive as a blogger & gain true success.

That’s the whole point of the blog, to help people and hopefully, in the long run, monetize.

Do a brain dump on paper, search on Pinterest for trending topics, do your research but make sure to create amazing content.

It goes without saying that having a good website is crucial as well.

I use WordPress and I love it, it’s the best out there, hands down.

Having a strong relevant domain name is key too.

I use Namecheap for my domain name, its cheap and I love their service.

My hosting is through Siteground, they’re affordable and their services are among the best.

This is truly the thin line between failing at blogging or being successful.
